Swapping sustainability for cycling: Lisa’s ‘Ride Across Britain’

Our sustainability consultant Lisa Sweeting recently took on the mammoth challenge of cycling from Land’s End to John O’Groats. Her journey totaled a mind-blowing 980 miles over nine days.

Lisa completed Ride Across Britain to raise money for Plan International UK – a global children’s charity that works to create lasting equality for girls and protect the rights of all children.

We were more than happy to sponsor Lisa on her ride across the UK. In fact, we’d do anything as long as we didn’t have to join her on it. But we’re always here for the moral support.

Lisa said, “I can honestly say this was one of the hardest if not THE hardest thing I’ve ever done! The lack of sleep, the early starts, the relentless hills, the pain… coupled with a lot of very nice people, crew, good food, and amazing scenery. There were lots of highs and lows. Wearing the Glasgows branded kit was a good conversation starter as many people thought it was something to do with Glasgow!”

With 15 years in the event and hospitality industry under her belt, Lisa works with our team to help us plan and run events that are environmentally and socially sustainable.

Sustainability is a core focus of ours; we’re committed to both minimising the environmental impact and maximising the social impact of our work and events, so Lisa is without a doubt a crucial part of our team. Supporting a sustainable future for our staff, clients, industry, and the planet is integral to our business.

Lisa deserves a huge round of applause, both for her incredible bike ride and for all the amazing work she does!
