We thought to create this Glasgows Glossary for you to really understand the different sorts of language we use on a day to day basis. We want our clients to really feel a part of Team Glasgows and not only get to know us on a greater level but our sector of business too!
Delegate– a person sent or authorised to represent others, in particular an elected representative sent to a conference.
Tender- the process whereby organisations invite bids for large projects that must be submitted within a finite deadline.
Keynote– a presentation software application developed as a part of the iWork productivity suite by Apple Inc.
ITT – information to tender
PQQ – pre-qualification questions
Honorarium – a fee paid to a guest speaker.
CRM (Customer Relationship Management) – a technology for managing all your company’s relationships and interactions with customers and potential customers.
GEM (Glasgows Event Manager) – the system that holds all our delegate records for events.
DDR (Day Delegate Rates) – this is for events, including things like room hire, lunch and all day tea and coffee.
Q2P20 (Questions to the panel) – this happens via our app.
CRS (Central Reservation System) – Database software that contains information about availability, rates, and related services, and through which reservations can be made.
Gobo – a stencil that is placed inside a stage light to create a pattern.
LED Parcan – a low wattage yet highly powered stage light that is often used in our sets.
Auditorium Seating – chairs set up in rows facing the speaker or stage, also called Theatre Style Seating.
Chevron Seating – chairs are placed in rows forming a V-formation facing the stage or podium, also called Herringbone and V-Shape.
Cabaret Style – a number of small round tables with chairs facing a stage area.
Vendor – the company retained by an event planner to handle one or more aspects of an event aka ‘Supplier’.
Switcher World – designated area for all of the video kit when it’s set up on an event.
Workshop – areas/rooms that are allocated in addition to the main plenary session; they can consist of team building exercises, informal sessions of free discussions or training sessions in which delegates, often develop skills and knowledge in a given field.
Thursday Friday – what we call Thursday when we’re off on Friday
FAF (Friday Afternoon Feeling) – a saying used by Team Glasgows to get them through their Friday afternoons.
Keeley Tight – When you can’t loosen fixtures because Richard Keeley (Dramatic Moves) has tightened them too tight.
Squash Courts – Bays in the warehouse that resemble squash courts that we use to store cabling.
‘Moz’annine – The Mezzanine in the warehouse named after our very own Michael Morris (Moz) – it’s his pride and joy!
Tuck Shop – Flight case of left over crew food that comes back from our events.
